SEQUENZA 10 System

The Max-Schmeling-Halle, Berlin modernizes its sound system and installs a Kling & Freitag SEQUENZA 10 system.Fifteen years ago the Max-Schmeling-Halle in the Berlin district Prenzlauer Berg opened to the public. Since then it has become one of the leading multipurpose arenas of Berlin. In total 1.100 events took place, attracting 10 million visitors.



The range of events varies from concerts of all kinds, national as well as international, to extraordinary stage and TV shows and huge sporting events. Especially in the sport segment, the requirements to a sound system have risen, due to the higher entertainment share of the events. "A replacement of the former sound system was necessary, in order to offer our visitors a reliable and modern sound system in the time to come", said Anette Weller, managing director of the operating company Velomax Berlin Hallenbetriebs GmbH.



Velomax decided in favor of a flexible line array concept. For the preparation, comprehensive acoustical simulations have been realized. Also, an intensive comparative test of different loudspeaker systems has been performed. The existing centralized sound system in the center of the hall had proved hugely satisfying over the past 15 years and therefore has been readopted.

The new system, however, allows also the quick and simple realization of other sound system configurations, for example an orientation in longitudinal or transverse direction.



The selected manufacturer of loudspeakers is the renowned company Kling & Freitag. The installation includes 50 Kling & Freitag SEQUENZA 10W fullrange line array elements, four cardioid NOMOS subwoofers and two GRAVIS 12W high performance loudspeakers.

The amping consists of the new TOPAS system amplifier which allows  monitoring and controlling  the system completely. The installation was realized by  PIK AG, Berlin. The engineering company Andreas Karsten from Berlin was in charge of the entire design of the sound installation and the equipments.
